Great hair day!

Since I decided to wake up at 3:30am this morning and start screaming babababababab and all sorts of other stuff and keep Mommy and Daddy awake, I thought it might be best to remind them how cute I am.

Big Bruise

In addition to getting his first bloody nose a few weeks ago, of course today being opening day of the football season, Mikey decided to try and tackle the rocking chair. The rocking chair won.

Edit: If you can't tell, he has a huge red spot and bruise over his left eye.

9 month dr. appt.

Well today was a big day for Mikey man. He went to his first day of daycare. From what we heard he napped really well and loved playing with the other children. Mommy did ok. :) He also had his 9 month dr. appt. (officially 9 months on Aug. 30th though). He weighed in at a whopping 20 lbs. 12 oz. which ranks in the 51%. That's a nice step up from the mid 30's like he was averaging before. We think this is because he is almost over spitting up. He's just an occasional spitter now. He measured at 29.5 inches tall which is the 84%. So he's getting taller for his age as well as before he was in the mid 70's.

He's taken to his walking very well too. He can now walk across the room, around corners and pretty much anywhere he wants. He still hasn't learned that he can't just walk over Dad, but I'm sure that will come in time.

I love to walk.....now if only these darn legs would stay underneath me.

Almost 9 Months

Mikey says he's sorry it's been such a long time since he posted a new message but he's busy learning and discovering new things. For instance, he would be writing this blog but as he only knows how to say babababababaaaaahhhh and mamamamamamaaaaah, it's a little too soon for writing.

He's been a busy boy though ....

6 Month Check-Up

Jon and I made it to six months. There was no question that Mikey would make it, but his parents were a little concerned they wouldn't a few times along the way. A six months, Mikey got a new present ... He needs it:

He loves to army crawl and has recently discovered climbing as a new activity. If there's a hole in the fence, trust me, he'll find it. 

When I've had just a bit too much baby time, we take walks. He use to fall asleep within five minutes of a walk, now he laughs and babbles the entire time. 

At his appointment yesterday, we learned that Mikey weights 16 lbs, 7 oz (27%) and 27.5 inches long (71%). Luckily he won't need shots again until he's a year old. 

He is into all his fruits and veggies, his favorites are peas and bananas. But most of all, our boy just likes to pose for pictures ...

My First Tooth

One week shy of six weeks and my first tooth has arrived! Right there on the bottom in the middle, it's poking through. I'm not sure how I feel about it. Because I like biting my spoon and playing tug of war with mommy. But then it hurts! It makes me run a little fever so I got tylenol for the first time last night. That was yummy. I wanted more but mommy said no. This silly tooth is also messing with my sleeping. I just don't want to take a nap during the day! And so by the end of the day I feel really cranky. So cranky, in fact, that when Pops rolls his tongue at me I get scared and cry! I don't like crying at Pops but this silly tooth is making me. Well, I'm going to go roll around on the floor now and chew on my dinosaur. He scared me yesterday too but we're friends now.

Just Because

The Fifth Month

I apologize it's been awhile since we last posted. This month has been very busy for all of us. We took our second trip to NC this past week and endured four plane rides. Mikey did very well each time. 

Then there was Mikey's first Easter...

And Grandma Holly came down a few times ...

Bath time is suddenly a joy instead of a chore ...

And he is really doing well sitting upright ...

A few weeks ago he rolled over for the first time and now that's all he does ....

Until he just gets too tired ...

And as always he gets angry when you take away the bottle ...

Visiting With Uncle Mike

We packed up this weekend and went to my parents' house to see Grandma Holly, Pops and Uncle Mike. The boys spent most of the weekend playing poker and not losing much money :). Mom and I did a little bit of shopping and in-between times we took lots of pictures. 

Mike couldn't believe how much his namesake had grown. Nor can I, to be honest. Each day we discover something new about him. He spent most of the time staring at the ceiling fan and laughing. 

Toward the end, Uncle Mike got a little tired of all the photos, but Baby Mike loves to have his picture taken. We had a wonderful time and wish we could see Uncle Mike more often. 

Happy Three Months!

Ducks and Rice Cereal

It's been awhile since I last posted. I think I get less done now that I've decided to stay home than I would if I actually went back to work. But, I have been assured, this is the way it goes. On the baby front, Mikey is almost to week 12 and becoming very interactive. I rented some Baby Einstein videos from him and though I can say they bore me to tears, he loves them. He's also eating a dose of rice cereal with each meal to help him keep his formula down. And, as always, my obsession with ducks grows and poor little boy is subjected to way-too-cute duck clothes. 

I love staying home with him although I am missing adult conversation more than I thought possible. Jon comes home and I start babbling incoherently. I am looking into the possibility of joining a Mom's group but haven't had any luck locating one yet.

10 weeks old today

Today Mikey turned 10 weeks old. Here's a little comparison picture between father and son. Daddy I think could have taken him in a fight at this point. He was a lot bigger, although Michael probably has the reach on him. :)

The Happiest Sick Baby

Our little man hasn't been doing so well lately. He's congested. He has a runny nose. He has a hideous cough and he spits up like nobody's business. But you wouldn't know that to look at him. He laughs. He coos. He dreams about zebras and lions. And he looks really cute in his turtle outfit. Here are a few nine week pictures.

Mikey's Bravery, Mama's Wimpery

I took Mikey in yesterday for his 2 month checkup and first round of vaccinations. He weighs 11 lbs, 2 oz (in the 45% range), and 24 inches long (85%). 

When the nurse came in to give him his shots, he was a pretty happy boy. Smiles and giggles all around until that first needle went in. Then he screamed and screamed and screamed. And I started crying. Two more shots and five minutes later we were back to the smiles and giggles but I was still crying. The good news is, he'll forget it ever happened. The bad news is, one day he'll realize what's about to happen and we'll have to hold him down on the table with the help of three nurses, just like we had to do to his Uncle Mike. 

I think I'm scarred. 

2 months old

Ok, so two months isn't much different from 8 weeks, but he does possibly have his first cold. It's more like congestion, but we have to put basically a gas mask on him for a few minutes about 3-4 times a day for the next week to see if he starts doing better. He weighed in a 9.5 lbs, but when we had him on the scale with us a couple days prior we think he was more like 10.5. The reason for the doctor visit though was he was spitting up a lot. He'd eat his food no problem, but more than likely it was going to end up running down your arm eventually when burping him.
The good news is, apparently he thinks he can walk now as evidenced in the picture.

Eight Weeks

Well, we made it to eight weeks. Jon and I were talking the other day and we agreed it's been both the longest and shortest eight weeks of our lives. The past two weeks we've entered the "crying" stage. Every night from 5 to 9 our little Mikey takes it into his cute little head to cry unless he is being held, bounced and walked around the house. Mr. Fussy Britches is quite cute once he's settled down though. 

Jack is now reaping the bounty from having a baby in the house. He loves cardboard and we have an abundance of boxes from all the stuff we've bought. Here is Jack's new bed. 

Speaking of Jack, I think he is finally starting to "see" Mikey. Mikey loves his floor time and has started to notice the stars and suns hanging above his head. With that, he moves and coos for long periods of time. Jack is confused because up until now this little baby has just laid there and hasn't really been a threat. But now the creature can move! The creature has hands! Jack fears for his tail. 

Tomorrow I go back to work with mixed emotions. Adult conversation has it's perks but look at the kid! It will be hard to leave him with someone else for eight hours a day.

Appearantly Michael is not a big fan of puppy coats with little ears on him. Shortly after putting this on him he just started screaming his head off and won't quit. Maybe he's just not happy with the hat portion of the jacket, ha ha.
